The chief way in which our congregation shows its love for Cheyenne is through teaching our members that their roles in the community are important.  The vocations they find in their families and among their neighbors are give to them by God.  Lutherans place a special significance to ordinary life in God’s eyes.  Because Christ Jesus has set us free by the forgiveness of our sins, our freedom is meant to be used in service to our neighbors, beginning in our homes, our church, our neighborhoods, our country and the world.  The good work that is done in those places is done unto our Lord.  Those works do not always have to be attached to some “church” effort.  Many of our members are involved in many community organizations.

Apart from this our congregation serves our community in other ways as well. Here are just a few of them:

Freely Given of Cheyenne, Wyoming is one of our efforts meant to help young families receive the support they need in raising little kids.

Our Savior Lutheran Preschool is a service to our community.  For decades we have helped families of our community get their 3-5 year old children ready for Kindergarten as well as learn about Jesus in their day to day classes.

Our ladies groups regularly prepare things for use by other community organizations in Cheyenne.

We actively support community organizations like SafehouseNeeds Inc., Comea Shelter, LifeChoice Pregnancy Center, the Home Away from Home project of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, host the local Quilts of Valor group, and regularly participate in the Cheyenne Day of Giving.

Beyond Cheyenne we support orphanages in Russia through the work of Orphan Grain Train (from donations made during the Sunday Adult Bible Study).  We also take special collections to help with disaster relief in areas across the United States.  We also support efforts being made by our denomination at the Wind River Reservation.
